DFW K9 CREW
We all know that traveling can include flying the not always friendly skies so DFW Airport has a cure for that. Introduced in October 2016, the airport brought on board the DFW K9 Crew. What better way to ease the stress of flying than wet noses, and furry bodies in uniform? Currently the DFW K9 Crew consists of 12 experienced therapy dogs and their handlers, and can be spotted roaming Terminal B in official "DFW K9 Crew" harnesses. By 2017 DFW plans to expand the program to include over 60 handler teams throughout all the terminals.
Each therapy dog has collectable trading cards that introduces the dog's name, age, weight and training certificates. Passengers are encouraged to take pictures with the dogs and share on social media using #DogsofDFW. After posing for pictures, passengers who post three over time will earn "DFW Terminal Bucks" or DFW branded items.
DFW isn't the only airport to use therapy dogs to ease stressed out passengers. Currently 30 airports across the country have therapy dogs on duty, and fortunately for all of us the numbers are growing. Chances are if you are traveling through a major hub you will run across these hard working canines and their handlers. So go ahead. Give these dogs a big hug and thank the handlers because all of them are volunteering their time to help make the skies friendly again.
