Lexi Rizzo at Kraken Motorsports

North Texas, start your engines: your new home for automotive performance is ready to roll April 20. Kraken Motorsports, a performance shop specializing in outstanding performance paired with reliability for import vehicles, celebrates its grand opening in Fort Worth on Saturday, April 20, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Kraken Motorsports HQ, located at 1929 Golden Heights Road, Suite 1104. This free event is open to the public, and will feature automotive vendors, drawings for prizes, swag giveaways, a DJ spinning tunes, food trucks and a raffle benefiting Operation Kindness, the charity of choice for Kraken Motorsports. Dotson Tuning, a top DFW tuner, will also be celebrating its grand opening during the event which is a long-awaited day for local import and tuning enthusiasts.

“When I envisioned a performance shop, I saw a place for people to get real advice and quality service in a unique environment -- a place where all cars were created equal and everyone had a voice,” Shawn Rizzo, founder and president of Kraken Motorsports, said. “Our shop brings the fun back to building and modifying cars in a way that fits your budget and stands the test of time.”

From the state-of-the-art automotive equipment, to the colorful graffiti and comic book art covering the walls, to the dedication to helping customers’ dreams come alive, Kraken Motorsports will provide customers an extraordinary car-building experience.  The shop is owned by Shawn and Alicia Rizzo, a Fort Worth husband-and-wife team with a life-long love for all things automotive. Shawn Rizzo, the company’s founder, has a Master ASE certification and an L1 Advanced certification, in addition to being a Master Subaru Technician. His performance skills have been called upon for years by customers who have visited his home shop for the kind of reliability they cannot get elsewhere.  With the opening of Kraken Motorsports in a dedicated facility in Fort Worth, Rizzo is able to offer that service on a larger scale to more automotive enthusiasts. Alicia Rizzo heads operations for Kraken Motorsports, applying her corporate expertise to the business, and allowing the gearheads to provide the kind of outstanding reliability and performance she demands from her own vehicles.

Kraken Motorsports specializes in Subaru and other Japanese imports, and offers a full range of services including:

  • State-of-the-art engine building and modification
  • Alignments
  • Corner balancing and track set up
  • Performance upgrades and modifications
  • Stage packages
  • Fabrication
  • Maintenance & repair
  • Tuning services on a Mustang 1100 all-wheel-drive dyno provided in partnership with Dotson Tuning

Kraken Motorsports is proud to partner with the premier tuner in the DFW area, Calvin Dotson of Dotson Tuning, to bring customers a comprehensive automotive performance experience.  Dotson is a well- respected member of the tuning community and a COBB pro-tuner.  He combines his expertise and COBB’s proven products to achieve optimal performance for Kraken Motorsports’ customers.

At the grand opening event on April 20, guests can enjoy tours of the shop, attend dyno demonstrations, and see the comic book graffiti artwork of House of Pannek, a renowned artist from Dallas’s Deep Ellum. Food trucks will be on-site and DJ Lonely will be providing music. Local automotive dealerships and vendors, including members of the Sports Car Club of America, will be on-site with booth, demonstrations and swag, as well. Raffle prizes include a custom artwork piece by House of Pannek; a DuraMax 250-piece mechanic’s tool set from O’Reilly’s; a Kraken performance alignment; Kraken performance oil change; gift certificates for performance services; and the grand prize, a Dotson Tuning gift certificate valued at $500.

Proceeds from the raffle benefit Operation Kindness, North Texas’s largest no-kill shelter, to help in its mission to care for homeless cats and dogs until each is adopted into responsible homes. Lexi Rizzo, the Kraken Motorsports Shop Dog, has endorsed this non-profit organization. Dogs are invited to the event to take a tour of the shop and meet Lexi.

“Our track record of reliable, power-producing vehicles is core to our mission and has inspired us to create something unique,” Rizzo said. “I want the customers to be involved in their builds, to be an integral part of the conception of their vehicle and enjoy the process, from start to finish.  I wanted to create friends and family, not just customers.”
